Do you consume wheat, dairy products or refined sugar every day?
Dairy, wheat and refined sugar are arguable the three most damaging, harmful and toxic foods that are consumed in the world today. And they are such a struggle for people to avoid, because they are in everything these days! They are literally responsible for why we have such extreme rates of cancer, heart disease and widespread body inflammation in the world today. We hear in the world today that moderation is the key to health today. This simply is not the case with these substances. If a person came into the clinic and said to me, “Dr. Scott, I have heard that moderation is the key to healthy living, so it’s ok if I have a bit of heroin or cocaine every now and then, right?” My response would obviously be a resounding NO. Diary, wheat and refined sugar are the heroin of our day when it comes to food and when it comes to having vibrant health, there is no moderation with them. They cause untold numbers of health problems for people in the long run.
Wheat: The wheat we consume today is nothing like it was 100 years ago. Wheat today technically hasn’t been genetically modified like other foods but what has been done to it is actually much worse. It has been hybridized with non-wheat plants from other species, back crossed (repeated crossing to winnow out a specific trait) and has gone through chemical mutagenesis, which is the use of obnoxious stimuli to induce mutations that can be propagated in offspring. In short, it is one of the worst science experiments ever conducted. The experiments are conducted on you, the average person who consumes the wheat almost every day. It is toxic poison through and through. Celiac disease is on the rise, non celiac gluten sensitivity is a major problem causing allergic reactions, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (alternating diarrhea and constipation) is rising, and wheat yields significantly less nutrients than ancient forms of wheat. Wheat, as a food, is an inflammation producing factory and should be completely avoided for all people wanting vibrant health. This means removing bread, pasta, muffins, donuts, cereals, English muffins, bagels, pop tarts, waffles, and cookies from the diet. I highly suggest reading the book Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis.
Dairy: The dairy that is consumed today is even close to what it was 100 years ago. Most dairy cows have not been fed their native diet (grass) and instead are feed genetically modified grains. This creates more infection and inflammation for them. As a result they have to be pumped full of antibiotics, which can find their way into the milk. Lactose, the sugar in cow’s milk, is not able to be digested by more than 75% of the world contributing to gas, abdominal pain, bloating and reflux, inflaming the digestive system. Dairy is one of the main contributing foods to acid reflux. It has been proven that countries with the highest consumption of dairy products have the highest rates of bone fractures. The calcium in milk does nothing to make bones stronger. Women and men are more at risk for getting cancer that consume more milk. This falls in line with what Chinese medicine has said about dairy for thousands of years. Cow’s are extremely inhumanely treated are kept pregnant much longer than nature ever intended just to use them. Cheese and ice cream contain casomorphins. Yes, morphins. I have literally heard people in the clinic tell me how addicted they are to cheese and ice cream and it is because of this addictive substance. Refined Sugar: Refined sugar is the new cocaine and by using MRI technology, you can’t tell the difference when someone has had cocaine or sugar. Sadly, up to 17% of the modern diet is made up of sugar. Most sugar comes from genetically modified sugar beets. Genetically modified foods are not healthy…period. It has been proven that cancer feeds on refined sugar. Sugar actively promotes heart disease. Consuming sugar increases the risk of depression. It also increases wrinkles and accelerates aging. The book Suicide by Sugar by Dr. Nancy Appleton discusses the many ways sugar is destroying the health of the average person today. Fruit sugar is very different than refined sugar. Fruits are healthy, contain inflammation and disease fighting nutrients and should be consumed. Do not use artificial sweeteners as those are just as toxic as sugar. Use small amounts of organic maple syrup or honey for added sweetness.
When you have a craving, it is really just a drive by a very specific emotion – lust. Synonyms with lust are desire, wanting, craving and coveting. The promise with lust is that having the thing we desire will truly make us feel love, fullness or fulfillment. But lust never delivers on its promise. But there is good news. You can use a tool such as The Sedona Method to powerfully release and let go of any craving that you will ever have. It has worked for thousands of people. Be loving, gracious and forgiving of yourself when you give in to a temptation. Release what comes up and keep going!
