I have a confession. In the past, I was VERY addicted to coffee (and other foods if I am to be completely honest). In fact, I tried to stop many times because I KNEW that it was not contributing to my health, but it was VERY difficult to quit.
I LOVED coffee. The warmth, the smell, the creaminess, the sweetness, the big sigh of relief as that black gold hit my mouth with its powerful stimulating magic. Can you resonate?
I am now going on 8 months or so of not having it. Here is the best part. I haven’t thought about it since. I don’t feel deprived and I don’t have cravings for it.
The first week, I was sluggish and tired, but after that wore off, my energy levels rose even beyond where they were when I was drinking coffee to be stimulated. Now, I just drink a little organic green tea in the morning.
America is a country that is addicted to foods and drinks that are destroying the health of our nation. The biggest culprits are GMO wheat (cakes, cookies, pasta, bread, etc.), GMO refined sugar, alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes. I stopped consuming wheat, alcohol, and GMO refined sugar completely about 1.5 years ago using the same process. I don’t feel deprived at all. In fact, I feel pretty amazing because I’m not consuming things that are inflaming my body.
Are you addicted to one of these things and don’t really want to admit you are addicted? It’s totally ok, I have been there and I get it. But…the first step to getting free is admitting you have a problem.
I can cite the science about the incredible dangers of wheat, sugar, alcohol, caffeine or cigarettes (including vaping) but it won’t matter much to us if we think that these substances meet a deep internal need and provide some relief from the suffering we unconsciously experience. Telling someone to stop rarely if ever does the trick and moderation is not the key with these substances.
So what changed in me? I had a shift in consciousness, a shift in how I saw coffee. It was a shift from dependence to seeing not having it as total freedom. If you are addicted, or suffer withdrawal (anxiety, headache, tremors, intense raving, nausea, vomiting, etc.) from not having something, this is not freedom. It is dependence.
Do you want to be free and have it be easy?
I recently was recommended a book by a dear friend that provides a pathway to help you be free. It doesn’t involve willpower, deprivation or trying hard. This book outlined what I intuitively experienced 8 months ago when I quit having coffee. It was easy and I haven’t craved coffee since.
You can experience this too! If it sounds too good to be true, it is not. You just have to read the book and find out for yourself. Allen Carr (the author) has helped millions of people be free from their addictions through his Easy Way method. He will help you to see things in a whole different way.
Here are the links to the books to help you focus on what you are addicted to and how to be free.
