Women’s Health

Chinese Medicine for Women’s Reproductive Health

One of the other areas where Chinese medicine shines is women’s health.  A question I ask in the clinic with every woman that still has a period is, “How is your period every month?”  The inevitable answer from most women is, “Umm…normal.”  I always chuckle a little at this because most women don’t go around asking other women about how they experience their periods each month.  Yet all of the following symptoms are things that can be balanced and healed with Chinese medicine – cramps, clots in the blood, irritability, breast tenderness, headaches, lower back pain, abnormal smell, abnormal discharge, pain, no period, heavy and continuous period, short period, bleeding between periods and infertility.  If you have any of these symptoms, it means that something is not quite balanced for you.

I have successfully treated every one of these issues in the clinic.  All of these are symptoms telling you that something is imbalanced and needs attention in the body.  While birth control may help with symptoms, it is just a band-aid that doesn’t correct the underlying imbalance.  Chinese medicine has so many tools to heal and balance these symptoms and get to the very root issue.  Women have been having these symptoms for thousands of years, so the Chinese have had a lot of time to discover what works and what doesn’t.

We use food therapy, herbs, whole food supplements, massage, acupuncture, auricular therapy, meditation for stress and many other tools to help give women exactly what they need so that they can heal.  We also see the body in an integrative holistic way.  For more information on this, please see the article The 5 Levels of Healing in the Body.

Physical Healing and Women’s Health

Refined sugar is one of the most destructive things that causes imbalances in the menstrual cycle.  I usually give women very detailed advice that is easy to follow on how to balance sugar cravings, while not causing the system so much stress.  Nutritional deficiencies and toxins also cause so many problems in the reproductive area for women.  We specifically address these deficiencies and implement an easy to follow plan to pull toxins from the system that may be generating symptoms.  With simple changes, women can heal and balance their body in a very short period of time.

Electrical Healing and Women’s Health

Acupuncture is a very powerful tool that women all over the world have benefited from.  They have used it to get pregnant in cases of infertility.  Clinically, I have had the privilege of treating quite a few women that couldn’t get pregnant and in very short time, they were able to get and maintain pregnancy.   Many cases of severe menstrual cramps have diminished and healed as well.  You don’t have to suffer if you have a period.  So many women have suffered each month and just don’t know there is a better, pain free way.

Acupuncture interacts with our bodies electrical system.  This is why stimulating (twisting back and forth) an acupuncture needle can generate a very small electrical sensation.  If the electricity to your house was only functioning at 60%, your house would not work at full capacity.  Likewise, if the electricity to parts of the body, like the reproductive system, are not getting 100% of the electricity that should be flowing there, you will experience symptoms.  When the electricity comes back on, this will mean increased blood flow and oxygen will arrive to this part of you and also pain killing chemicals from the brain will be able to work their healing magic.  Acupuncture doesn’t hurt and can help you to powerfully balance and heal.

Emotional Healing and Women’s Health

We can literally hold onto negative emotions in very specific parts of the body, such as the reproductive area.  Over time, if these emotions are held here long enough, symptoms can arise in order to let us know that these emotions are not supporting our health.  This is a common occurrence in the female reproductive system.  Women can associate so many negative things with their period and also their vaginal area.  Below are some of the common emotional aspects that can contribute to why women get Pre-Menstrual Syndrome.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)—Anger, confusion, anxiety, fear, self-doubt. Holding back ideas because you believe they will be rejected. Not being listened to. Frustrated, impatient, annoyed. Feeling trapped, unsafe, blocked, disrespected, unhappy. Holding on to past hurts from men. Feeling inferior. Denying your feminine energy. Wanting to be more masculine, to which you attribute strength and power. (Inna Segal – The Secret Language of Your Body)

I once had a women who suffered severe cramps every month since she was 12.  I told her the next time she got these cramps to call and we could process through them.  She was 1000 miles away at the time and I got a phone call at 9pm in the evening.  I helped her to process through the emotions surrounding her period and for the first time in 12 years, she was pain free.  To this day, the cramps have never returned.  I taught her how to release her emotions over the phone and the healing was powerful.  Most months she is totally caught off guard every time she has her period because she has zero symptoms.

A woman may have symptoms for many different reasons and on different levels in the body.  When we address every level of those symptoms, one has the very best chance of healing.  If this information resonates with you and you would like to feel better, please call 407-255-0314 to set up your appointment now.  If you are not in the Orlando, FL area, phone appointments are available and you can begin to heal wherever you are.
